There’s a winter storm heading our way? Have you heard? Winter Weather Advisory: SOUTHERN CENTRE-CAMBRIA-BLAIR-SOMERSET-BEDFORD Winter Storm Warning: WARREN-MCKEAN-POTTER-ELK-CAMERON-NORTHERN CLINTON-CLEARFIELD- NORTHERN CENTRE-TIOGA-NORTHERN LYCOMING-SULLIVAN Well, let’s get to it with the first Winter Storm Warning of the season. Take a look at the text from the National Weather Service below… I promised some pictures and a detailed re-enactment of what went down yesterday when I went with Dave Ondrejik of the National Weather Service. Here it is… I told you I’d update you on that flood warning. It’s for Jefferson County. Here’s the details from the NWS… THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PITTSBURGH HAS ISSUED A * FLOOD WARNING FOR…  JEFFERSON COUNTY IN WEST CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA… * UNTIL 615 PM EST WEDNESDAY * AT 611 PM EST LAW ENFORCEMENT REPORTED [...] Wow… It was cold this morning. Temperatures across the region were mainly in the lower 30s, but some locations did get into the 20s this morning, as predicted. We’re in for another cold morning tomorrow with more locations getting into the 20s. Here’s a look at this morning’s lows…  Saturday Morning Just an FYI… Clearfield hit 31° this morning and Bradford hit 24°. Tomorrow morning looks to be a cold one with at least one location getting close to breaking a record. Keep reading for more on the records and the Freeze Warnings that are in effect. Just a quick update with some watches and warnings and some rainfall totals so far. This update is coming around 6 PM on Sunday evening. Here’s the latest text from the National Weather Service in State College about this advisory… …SNOW ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO [...] It’s Severe Weather Awareness Week… This is running on Weather Plus, but you can see it by clicking play below!  For more info on Severe Weather Awareness Week, visit the National Weather Service at www.weather.gov/ctp. Here’s another update on our storm… and this’ll probably be the last one, unless I decide to recap it. Right now, it’s very windy and some of the roads across the region are very slick. We had a lot of flash freezing. I know when I went outside the station in Upper Yoder Township [...] What a crazy storm! Now that the precip has started, you’d think we’d know EXACTLY what was going to happen… well, it’s still not 100% clear. Here’s what we’re thinking right now… FRI PM: Precip tapers a bit. Anything left tonight will be rain south and east and mix or snow north and west. [...] 24 hours later and things are becoming a little clearer… (emphasis on the words ‘a little’). The models still are not in complete agreement with the exact track of this storm, but they are beginning to lean a little more towards the warmer side of things with an inland track to this storm. Here’s [...] Most of the upcoming storm looks to be in the form of rain. The only place we’re really concerned about ice is north of I-80. Here’s a look at the current watches and how much rain Futurecast is spitting out. Worth noting is the fact that Forest County is under both a FLOOD WATCH [...] So, we knew this storm was coming and we made our predictions. You can see what we predicted in the post below. Let’s get you updated on what is going on right now in terms of advisories and warnings. It’s 9:23 PM as I write this now and the NWS in both Pittsburgh and [...] Hey gang… Just a quick update to say what’s going on right now. We have some sleet falling at the studio around 9:00 on Friday morning. We started with all snow last night, but the changeover has taken place and we’re dealing with sleet. Expect a mix the rest of the day before changing [...] Just another quick update… The NWS in Pittsburgh has added Westmoreland County to the Winter Storm Warning. The snow continues to fall across the region this afternoon for now, but the changeover is as close as the Pennsylvania state line. We’ll continue to monitor this storm as the afternoon progresses! I’m not in the Alleghenies right now… I’m actually home, just southwest of Pittsburgh. It’s now 1:51 in the morning and I’m listening to the howling winds.
