This is me… I'm standing over the ocean in Ogunquit, Maine. Fall Foliage Report – October 3, 2009 By the way, the map comes to us from ‘The Foliage Network.’ They have a lot of great information on their website, so [...] It’s that time of year again… Fall foliage time! The leaves across the Alleghenies are already starting to change, but we haven’t seen anything yet. More colors are on the way. Take a look at the map below…
Foliage Update as of September 30, 2009 By the way, the map [...] This is the second part of my fall foliage post and this time, I’m talking about the different colors you might find on (and off) of the trees. Different colors actually come from different kinds of trees. Have a look at the graphic below for a list of trees and the different colors they produce. This is part 1 of a two-part blog post dealing with fall foliage. In this post, we’ll focus on what causes the color change. In the next one, we’ll see what colors you can expect to see from different types of trees. We got some more pictures in to the Severe Weather Center, so I figured I’d share them with you. Remember, if you want to share your fall foliage pictures with us, just send us an e-mail to weather@wjactv.com. We’ll do our best to show them on the blog and at wjactv.com. We’ll also try to get a few on the air on WJAC-TV News. To see the gallery of pictures, click into the post! The Foliage Network updated their fall foliage map for northeastern U.S. today. I’ve attached that below. You’ll notice that we’re starting to see moderate color in the region and just to our north, we’re getting into the high color range. It won’t be long now. Click in for the map… In the last post, I put up some pictures of the foliage across the region. Now, I’ll update you on the status of the foliage across the Alleghenies. We’re not quite to peak colors yet. As a matter of fact, we’re in the low to moderate color range. Take a look at the maps below to get an idea of where the peak colors are… Fall is here and folks across the Alleghenies are starting to send in pictures of fall foliage. Click into the post to take a look at just a few of the pictures we’ve received. It’s that time of year… The leaves are starting to change.
