QUIZ: Retired Hurricane Names

There’s been some talk recently about hurricanes, especially because of the F, G, H, and I hurricanes this year.  Fay, Gustav, Hanna, and Ike caused significant problems for the United States and the damage is still being tallied today.  There’s been some talk that those four hurricane names could all be retired.

Misadventures in Quad Riding…

I had a few days to burn before the end of the year, so I figured I’d take last Friday and Saturday off.  On Thursday, a friend and I made plans to go quad riding Friday afternoon.  Now, I should also note that I don’t really pay much attention to the weather when I’m off.  I didn’t expect the monsoon that came on Thursday night and through Friday, but we decided to go riding anyways.

I should also note that I am an amateur in every sense of the word when it comes to riding quads.  As a matter of fact, I just learned how to ride them for my appearance at Rock Run ATV Park back in June.  Click in to continue reading about my misadventures in quad riding…

Day of Remembrance

I can remember where I was 7 years ago today like it was yesterday. I was sleeping in that Tuesday morning, just starting my vacation. The weather was perfect, but the good feelings didn’t last long. I woke up and was watching the Today show and that’s when everything of course went wrong around 8:30am. (Read More)

Are We Really That Dry?

Everyone is talking about how dry they think it’s been.  To a point, I’ll agree.  The last 30 days have been relatively dry across the Alleghenies.  The question is… Just how dry has it been?

We’ll examine that in detail with a few graphics.  Continue reading by clicking the link below.
