Keep those weather picture coming! Send them to [...] Well, I’m finally home from the Great California Train Adventure. Big thanks go out to Holiday Vacations and our tour directors, Phyllis, Kippy, and Kathy. They did a phenomenal job! After the page break is a listing of all of my pictures from the trip. Enjoy and I hope you have a chance to join me and Holiday Vacations for another trip someday! Our cooler-than-average Summer weather continues this week, with it feeling like early May rather than early July! Here’s a few photos from storm chaser Ron Shawley. The pictures were taken last night near the Chickaree area of Cambria County:

Don’t forget to send your photos to [...] Thunderstorms with heavy rain and frequent lightning will cross the area tonight as a cold front moves through. This front will move south of the state on Friday, bringing in some slightly cooler air. There will be enough moisture left over to generate a pop-up thundershower tomorrow, but most spots will stay dry. Whatever [...] Well, we’ve made it to California. Lake Tahoe was amazing and breathtaking. San Francisco is really cool, too. Check out the pictures by clicking here. It’s through Facebook, but you DO NOT need an account to see the pictures! It’s definitely worth a look. Tomorrow, we head to Monterey! We have an opportunity for strong to potentially severe storms later tomorrow evening and tomorrow night. A cold front will slide through late tomorrow, spreading those storms in. The best chance to see rain before sundown tomorrow will be north and west of Johnstown. Our weather seems to have finally turned around, and we’re going to get even warmer this week. A big ridge has formed across the south-central states, and it’s pumping heat and eventually humidity our way. Here we go, again. Luckily, I have the internet on my phone and can connect it to my computer. I was able to upload another day’s worth of pictures. Just click the link below for more gorgeous scenery! (And don’t worry, you don’t have to have a Facebook account to see them!) I will [...] Just a quick post to give you the picture link… Here’s part 2 of my Great California Train Adventure! Next stop… Reno and Tahoe tomorrow! http://bit.ly/114dlk Well, after an adventure getting here, we finally arrived in Chicago around 9:30 PM CDT on Friday. We did get to have a dinner at the hotel, even though we were pretty late… I’m jumping ahead of myself, though. Let’s talk about the flight. It was a nightmare. We left PIT around 6:00 (about [...] So… Due to some bad weather in Chicago and between Pittsburgh and Chicago, our trip is starting off on a delay. We were supposed to take off at 2:46 PM but now we’re hearing there’s a delay until 4:00 PM. We’ll eventually make it to Chicago, but it might be a while. Once we [...] It looks like we could be in for another round of strong to severe storms later Friday through the pre-dawn hours of Saturday morning. Warmer and very humid air will flow into the state tonight through Friday, and that will set the stage for a potential severe weather outbreak as a small area of [...] We have a risk of severe storms and even tornadoes tonight across parts of the area. Take a look:
Western parts of Indiana, Westmoreland and Fayette counties are most at risk. The cooler air (50s and low 60s) across most of west-central PA should keep a lid on the activity, but [...] NWS Lightning Safety Week is June 21-27, and here’s some important info from the weather service: Check out this cool phenomenon, courtesy of spaceweather.com and photographer Odd Hoydalsvik of Norway: Well, my vacation is right around the corner and it’s the Great California Train Adventure! We’re taking viewers along with us, too. My trip starts on Friday and we’re heading for Chicago. We’ll stay in Chicago then head via train to Reno. From there, we’ll board a motorcoach and head to Tahoe then the [...] It seems like it’s been wet as of late, but not as bad as you might think. Our rain totals for May were a little above average, but the problem is it rained more days in the month than were dry. Take a look at our totals:
Next week looks [...] The humidity has certainly been rather high over the past week or so, but our temperatures have not been that warm surprisingly. Clouds and rain have kept a lid of temps so far this month, take a look:
It appears that later next week, we should see some above average heat push [...] Check out these nice shots sent in from our weather spotter in the Moxham section of Johnstown. The first is prior to our rainstorm in the Laurel Highlands, and the latter is after the storm had passed:
