Another day, another winter storm for the Alleghenies. This beast won’t be as intense as the last, but we’re still going to get a significant snowfall from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday night.
One area of low pressure will move into Ohio, and another will form along the coast. Accumulations south of I-80 will be over 6 inches, and south of Route 22 will be in the double digits for the most part. The exception could be in Blair and Huntingdon counties, where totals may end up just short of 10″. Here’s our latest snow map:
The winds will pick up on Wednesday from the northwest, gusting up to 30 mph. This will create considerable blowing and drifting, mainly south of I-80 where the heavier totals will be. The heaviest of the snow looks to fall from 6 p.m. Tuesday evening through noon Wednesday, with lighter accumulating snow thereafter until Thursday morning, ending last in the Laurel Highlands.
We’ll have an update on our Wintercast on Monday of next week, taking a look at where we’ve been and what the rest of winter holds for us.
