There’s still quite a bit of snow on the ground in the Laurel Highlands, and that has the potential to pose some problems later this week.
First though, take a look at our snow depth:
Amounts in the Laurel Highlands average between 15 and 30 inches. When looking at the water equivalent we can see the potential problem:
That’s 5 to 8 inches of water inside of the snowpack in Cambria and Somerset counties. When you add some rain to those amounts later this week, some river flooding is indeed possible. We’ll be watching things over the next few days, and I’ll have an update tomorrow on the storm systems that will affect us Thursday and Friday.
Keep your fingers crossed, as it appears right now that the heaviest of the rain will stay to our east.
